Started at the Cornbiscuit lot. Toured up Magnum and accessed changing snow conditions throughout the day. Went up to practice digging snow pits. Found good skiing on the way down on wet surface snow.  [ Read More ]

Toured up to Sunburst to see how the snowpack is looking a week after the large human triggered avalanche on the south face. Overall we found poor snowpack structure and had unstable test results in both locations on two different weak layers. This is not a good sign and indicates that large human triggered avalanches  [ Read More ]

Standard up track and ridge to Tincan Proper, hoping to find cold snow in proper’s north couloir. Dug pit at couloir entrance to assess known bsh layer. N aspect, 3700ft. Failure 50cm down on bsh layer with surprising energy (ectp13). It was an easy decision to back off and egress down the ridge.  [ Read More ]

Afternoon ride up the motorized up-track and into the higher terrain along the Seattle Ridge headwall. We were targeting the hottest part of the day. Despite this, there was still a lot of crusty conditions encountered along with some roller balls on steep south slopes.  [ Read More ]
