Chugach National Forest Riding Areas

Status of riding areas across the Chugach National Forest is managed by the Glacier and Seward Ranger Districts, not avalanche center staff. Riding area information is posted as a public service to our users and updated based on snow depth and snow density to prevent resource damage at trailhead locations. Area	Status	Weather & Riding Conditions
Glacier District
Johnson Pass	Closed	Closed. The Forest Service is assessing snow conditions and will open when there is adequate snow to cover the trail.
Placer River	Closed	Closed. The Forest Service will continue the closure until snow depths are enough to protect the ground.
Skookum Drainage	Closed	Closed. The Forest Service will continue the closure until snow depths are enough to protect the ground.
Turnagain Pass	Closed	Closed. Around a foot of icy old snow at the parking lot as of Dec 1. The Forest Service will continue the closure until snow depths are enough to protect the ground.
Twentymile	Closed	Closed. The Forest Service will continue the closure until snow depths are enough to protect the ground.
Seward District
Carter Lake	Closed	Closed. The Forest Service will continue the closure until snow depths are enough to protect the ground.
Lost Lake Trail	Closed	Closed. The Forest Service is assessing snow conditions and will open when there is adequate snow to cover the trail.
Primrose Trail	Closed	Closed. The Forest Service is assessing snow conditions and will open when there is adequate snow to cover the trail.
Resurrection Pass Trail	Closed	Closed. The Forest Service will continue the closure until snow depths are enough to protect the ground.
Snug Harbor	Closed	Closed Dec 4 due to rain and limited snow cover. The Forest Service will monitor conditions and reopen when there is adequate snow to cover the trail.
South Fork Snow River Corridor	Closed	Closed. The Forest Service will continue the closure until snow depths are enough to protect the ground.
Summit Lake	Closed	Closed Dec 4 due to rain and limited snow cover. The Forest Service will monitor conditions and reopen when there is adequate snow to cover the ground.
