Skinned up the Virgin Creek Trailhead to the South Face of Max’s. Observed two glide cracks forming on the South face of Max’s at 2,700′. Strong inversion with 38-40 degree temps from 2k-5k have created spring like cornices failing. Although overall avalanche hazard has been low recently, today multiple fresh cornice failures were observed across multiple zones across the region. Toured up Kern Creek and over a 3000′ pass that is southeast of Big League (Hibbs Peak). Then descended into Winner Creek and skied out the Winner Creek trail.  [ Read More ]
