Backcountry Film Fest and Fundraiser for the AAS and F-CNFAIC Presented by APU Outdoor Studies Department and Alaska Avalanche School Winter Wildlands Alliance's 10th Annual Backcountry Film Festival features nine films that celebrate the human-powered winter wilderness experience, including one by local adventurer and filmmaker Luc Mehl. Join Alaska Avalanche School and the Friends of the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Center for a night of great entertainment, raffle prizes, and a chance to rekindle your winter stoke! No snow down low, but it is slowly getting deeper up high!
Keep doing your snow dances!! Although there is little snow at the Turnagain Pass road elevation, it has been snowing quite a bit in the upper elevations! Make sure to check the daily advisory if you are headed out in search of the white stuff.Mon, December 29, 2014

Heightened Avalanche Conditions expected for Christmas Week
As Christmas Break and the Holiday Season begin, stay tuned to the avalanche conditions on the daily advisory! We had one very close call with a skier buried in an avalanche on December 17th (skier is uninjured). This was due to an unstable snowpack.
