Skied up sunburst ridge for a nice mellow lap. Got a snowpit observation at the base of the ridge on a relatively flat area. Main layer of concern is the crust ~17 cm deep. Relatively stable layering observed otherwise, no failure on ECT.  [ Read More ]

Rode up Lynx Creek and up towards Captain Chair in the first large open meadow. Stopped to dig a pit around 1900′ and found a 8-10″ thick icy crust underneath 6″ of settled new snow from the past few days. Overall the snowpack was very strong at low elevations because that thick ice crust layer  [ Read More ]

Rode the common uptrack to Main Bowl to get a closer look at the avalanches that were triggered yesterday. We were able to get into the crown of the slab that released on Widowmaker. There were 3 other slabs triggered by riders yesterday in the bowl, no one caught. All avalanches were similar aspect and  [ Read More ]

Observed three large avalanches in main bowl, all were remotely triggered. One person caught at very end of the runout zone, not buried and not injured.  [ Read More ]
