A large natural avalanche released overnight on Monday, Jan 16. The slide deposited a significant amount of debris on railroad tracks. A northbound train rain into the debris and became derailed. Toured up Notch, saw another group that was staying at the hut and watched a few members of that party remote trigger a slide on their way down from low angle terrain. We dug a snowpit and spent the rest of the day lapping safe low angle terrain.  [ Read More ]
