Avalanche: Girdwood
Location: Notch Mountain
Toured up Notch, saw another group that was staying at the hut and watched a few members of that party remote trigger a slide on their way down from low angle terrain. We dug a snowpit and spent the rest of the day lapping safe low angle terrain.
Avalanche Details
Two other skiers in another party remote triggered a soft slab in front of us while they were skiing down, they didn't see it or notice a whumph but we watched the slide rip out about 30 yards from where they were skiing; we spoke with them afterward. We only saw the very top of the slab and weren't able to safely see how wide it propagated or how long it ran.

variable ice and raincrust until roughly 1500ft, wet powder that became drier the more we climbed, slight wind effect on ridgeline
Snowpack
ECTP 15 on what appeared to be the thanksgiving crust/facet layer. It failed about 80-90 cm down (2.5-3') on a layer of facets above a thin crust that I believe is the thanksgiving layer.
