We are currently issuing advisories 5 days a week until our final advisory on Thursday, April 30th. Advisories will be posted at 7 am each day except Mondays and Wednesdays. There is still plenty of snow at the mid and higher elevations and that means avalanche season is not over! Springtime avalanche conditions remain along with avalanche conditions due to storms that roll through. We will be posting a final report on May 1st that focuses on the various avalanche...

The Cantwell avalanche accident report is finished. Please take a few minutes to read and share this with your crew. Some valuable lessons to be learned. A huge thanks to the witnesses/rescuers for sharing this story with the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Center. March 14th, 2015 - Squaw Creek Avalanche Accident, near Cantwell, Alaska One snowmachiner caught, fully buried, recovered and flown to an Anchorage area hospital with serious injuries, later succumbed to injuries on 18 March 2015.
