Jon joined the Friends board in the spring of 2020 and is currently serving as the Vice President. He came to Alaska from his home state of Vermont during the summer of 2000 in pursuit of outdoor adventure. Since then, he has worked summers in the landscaping industry, currently as the owner of Alpenglow Landscaping. Winters have been spent backcountry skiing, ice climbing, and snowmachining to explore and access more remote climbs and ski terrain in the mountains of Alaska with friends. With the many years of great memories and shared experiences in the mountains, there have also been close calls and tragedies. The greatest being the loss of a close friend in an avalanche on Raggedtop in 2006. Jon believes strongly in the F-CAC mission to provide information to backcountry users, allowing them to make more informed decisions about backcountry travel and risk management.
