Observation: Turnagain

Toured up Wolverine on Sunday 2/7/2021. Nasty hard crust under trees. In open areas, widespread surface hoar on settled pow over supportable icy crust. One or two small whumps in openings at mid-elevations. Hasty at 1200 ft NW aspect just above treeline at base of Wolverine ridge: surface hoar over 15 cm settled pow on 10 cm crust, with increasing hardness to pencil/knife at bottom, over 3 to 5 cm sugar, over similar sandwiches below. Soft, thin, breakable wind crust with a few small stiffer areas along ridge to our high point 2,300 ft.
