This natural avalanche was reported to have occurred on Saturday
2/6/2010. The crown face has been blown in with wind deposited
snow, but you can still see the crown face just underneath the
red line drawn on the picture. The debris stopped in the
terrain trap at the bottom of this slope.
It most likely failed on the thin breakable melt-freeze
crust with surface hoar on top of it that was buried 1.5-2 feet
deep. This medium sized avalanche does not appear to have
stepped
down to the Jan 7 rain crust.
