Route & General Observations

Attempted full Eklutna Traverse. Throughout April 25-26, frequent underfoot whumpfing at all angles, including flat terrain. About 1 foot of fresh snow. Dug numerous pits in flat terrain on glacier and multiple pits on west facing aspects of slopes ranging from 10-20 degrees around 5,000 to 5,800 feet. Pits consistently CT4 to 8, sudden collapse, Q1 sheer. Weak facet layer ranged from 30-50 cm depth. Scary stuff, risk was certainly high, hopefully stabilizing.
