Avalanche: Hatcher Pass

Snowmachine-triggered avalanche. About 200 yards south of the hatcher pass trail half a mile west of summit lake. We were riding back down from the higher elevations trying to find a place to cross willow creek. Came down a Ridge to the gully adjacent to the creek. Decided it was a bad place to cross so went to turn around and head back up when my buddy carved close to the edge of the gully when the slope broke off below him. The sled went over but he fell off and landed right at the edge of the crown. West facing slope probably ranged from 25-40 degrees depending which spot. It was really windloaded with the crown ranging from 6-10ft deep. If I had to guess it was about 600′ wide. You can kinda see in the pics where it propagated around a terrain feature to the lower angle slope that didn’t slide. We were there for about an hour while 2 of us dug his sled out, and two kept a look out in case the other slope went as it was pretty bad terrain trap.
