Route & General Observations

Went up to Magnum today on a ski tour. Dug a pit on a WSW slope 30 degree aspect just under the cornice on the skin track. 3100 ft elevation. CT 24 on facet layer above crust layer (60cm down).

PST 40cm – End on weak facet layer above ice crust.

New storm snow layers compressing (SC) in ECT around #11-15. 12 and 25cm down. No Propagation.

Facet Layer was 4-5 cm thick with 2-3 mm facets.

Was probably some wind loading in the area since we were right under a cornice. Good skiing. Snow seemed pretty stable with good pow. Warmed up throughout the day. Observed some natural sloughing on S facing slopes. And a pretty good sized crown on sunburst.
