Route & General Observations

Skied the Cornbiscuit/Magnum area today with the sun ducking in and out. North aspects skied well
with minor sluffing. South aspects were much more sun/wind effected. Exiting from the Magnum
side of the drainage, I broke off a wind slab and took a (roughly) hundred foot ride. The wind slab
was soft and moved slowly; it came to a stop as soon as the slope angle tapered. We skied another
hundred yards or so and watched a sympathetic release on a skier’s right roll-over. Because of the
fog/clouds we were skiing into, we weren’t able to see how far it went or how large it was As we
continued down, now on the Cornbiscuit side of the drainage, we saw where someone earlier in the
day had set off another of these slabs on a roll-over; this wind slab was smaller in size than the one
pictured.
