Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Temps ranged from 5F to 15F, calm to light winds, clear skies.

Snow surface

Cold, faceted snow on the surface. No cohesive slabs found during our tour.

Snowpack

Hand pit on W aspect at 3500' showed similar results to 3/17 Obs from Valley of Sin. 25cm of faceting, low density snow above the drizzle crust that presented as a crust facet sandwich, with faceting above and below the crust. The crust was less cohesive than I observed right after its formation, and tended to crumble when pulling it out of the pit. Hand shear failed below the crust sandwich on facets. No formal tests performed.
