Route & General Observations

Sightseeing mission up Turnagain Pass today. Heavy rain up to 800′, with mixed precipitation up to 1200′. There was about 18″ of snow on the ground at the motorized lot. Visibility was very poor, but there were a lot of fresh debris piles at the bottom of the avalanche paths along the Seward Highway south of Girdwood.

Weather

Heavy rain up to 800', with periods of rain up to probably 1200'. There was 18" of heavy snow on the ground at the top of the pass. Skies were obscured all day, and winds were strong out of the east.
