A few photos of the action on the Pass the past couple days.
The only avalanche activity has been sluffing in the faceted snow on shady
aspects. The snow is getting more faceted by the day – some areas it is a foot
deep. Good sized and fast running sluffs have been easy to initiate in steep
terrain.
Small surface hoar is growing at the upper elevations. This is not a potential
problem until it becomes buried (there is little snow in our forecast).
The sun has done a number on southerly aspects and semi-supportable crusts exist
in most areas until the sun softens them in the afternoon.
