Route & General Observations

Some sun and clouds on Turnagain Pass today with a few folks getting out and enjoying it!

Several days of stormy weather (10/31-11/3) deposited around 12-14″ of storm snow (1.2″ water eq.) with moderate easterly winds. Reports from some folks that were out on Sunburst are: Above treeline, 1-2+ feet of wind distributed but soft, low density snow that sits on tundra and rocks. Below treeline is ~8-12″ of a mix of crusts and low density snow. I did not hear of any avalanche activity but there was one report of hollow snow at the upper elevation ridgeline (possibly a wind slab over weak snow from October?).

Glide avalanches: Eddies is showing many glide cracks with some that have released – small at this point. You can get the idea from the photo.
