Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Overcast skies, light snowfall, calm winds in the flats.

Snow surface

Around 2" of new snow from earlier in the day. Very low density. The top 3' was very light powder snow.

Snowpack

We dug one pit at 1,000' by the large snow stake. 30" of new snow from the past two days (fist to 4 finer right side up harness). This was over 8" of small faceted snow (4 finger) sitting on the Thanksgiving crust. No instability seen in our pit or other observations.

We spoke with a few groups who rode to the ridge and the weather station. They also reported no signs of instability and didn't see any recent avalanches.
