Route & General Observations

Broke trail up standard tincan uptrack through all the new snow in order to assess new snow conditions.

Weather

Sky obscured throughout the day with consistent light snowfall and a moderate breeze from the south.

Snow surface

Plenty of new snow on the ground, not too wet. Ski penetration 46 cm.

Snowpack

We dug one snowpit around 2000 ft on a NW aspect. Slope angle 24 degrees with a total snow depth of 255 cm. Our layer of concern was the 23 Nov buried surface hoar which presented about 103 cm from the surface in our pit above about 10 cm of facets sandwiched between the veteran's day surface hoar below.
