Route & General Observations

Nice. No red flags. Good skiing at and below treeline. Alpine is heavily wind effected. New snow, apprx 7″ @ 1000′, 10″ above 1400″. Heaviest w/ light crust @ 1000′, quickly gives way to dry, unconsolidated snow.

Red Flags
Red flags are simple visual clues that are a sign of potential avalanche danger. Please record any sign of red flags below.
Observer Comments

No red flags today. Planned to stay in trees given new snow. The plan was confirmed when we saw how wind effected and unappetizing Tincan Common looked from below. I'm sure there were some soft pockets, but did not look like great skiing overall. Could not tell if some texture in skiers right of Tincan Common Bowl was due to a small avalanche, or heavily wind effected snow.

Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.

New snow, apprx 7" @ 1000', 10" above 1400". Heaviest w/ light crust @ 1000', quickly gives way to dry, unconsolidated snow. At apprx 1800' snow becomes slightly denser and more wind effected outside of protected areas. Really nice skiing at and below treeline.

A couple hasty hand pits around 1800' showed weakness at the new-old snow interface, apprx 10" down.
