Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Light to moderate snow and wind throughout the day. Both picking up towards the afternoon. Low visibility. Warm temperatures. Roughly 27-32 degrees. 31 when we pulled out at 230pm.

Snow surface

Very light top 6" with gradually consolidating snow below. Pow all the way down. Tincan was very skied out though, we had to actually look for unskied pow.

We toured to the bottom of Hippie Bowl, and skied down from there due to wind effect. Soft windslabs in leeward slopes, and scoured ridgetops with negative ski tracks in wind scoured spots.

The skiing got better and deeper as we descended towards the road.

Snowpack

Felt a distinct firmer layer about 60cm down from pole stabbing. Didn't do any tests. Looking back towards one pillow I skied, the thing broke off on the same layer, so there is something there.
