Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

8:45 am @ parking lot: S-1, obscured sky, teens, calm winds
9:15 am: S1, obscured sky, teens, calm to light winds
9:45 am @ treeline: S1-S2: obscured sky, teens, light and variable (direction) winds
10:20 am @ parking lot: S-1, obscured sky, teens, calm to light winds

Snow surface

Fresh pow! HN=1" @ parking lot, 2" about halfway to treeline, 3-4" in the upper half of treeline. Some areas up higher in the trees along the uptrack were wind drifted and a very soft wind slab could be felt pole probing. In these areas the new snow was forming slightly more dense slabs than the snow underneath ("cakey").

Snowpack

Soft wind slabs in areas near and below treeline along the uptrack were sitting on lighter snow. New snow was bonding fairly well to the older snow from what we could tell.
