Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

The sky was broken most of the day with the sun poking through for a bit around noon before trending to overcast in the afternoon. Light easterly winds observed from our relatively sheltered location. Observed air temps around -8 deg C.

Snow surface

We observed around 5cm of fresh new snow over existing skin track with no wind affect at lower elevations.

Snowpack

We Dug one pit at 2100 ft on a SE facing slope in order to look at the structure of the snowpack after the recent storms. Overall we observed mainly the buried surface hoar layer sitting under 65 cm of new loose snow. our test yielded good results as the layer was relatively stubborn to trigger and displayed little propensity to propagation.
CT22 (SC) 65 cm on buried surface hoar layer above facets.
ECTN29 (RP) 65 cm.
PST 83/100 END down 65 cm on 20211201.
