Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Partly cloudy with occassional periods of sun, Light winds and temps in the high 20s to low 30s.

Snow surface

1000' to ~1700': heavy wet snow but little crust (too warm??)
1700' to 2000': light rain/MF crust over dense (wet) powder with small amount of loose snow on top
2000' to ~2400': heavier crust (not quite pizza boxes)with dense snow underneath.
2400' to ~2700': wind affected dense powder
2700' to top: variable wind scoured slabs and snow depth.
Lower snowpack was hit hard by the warm temps on Thurs. The alders have been given a second chance at standing tall again:-(
We were surprised to see the level of the rain/MF crust on the mountain. Looks like there might have been a brief period where the temps up high warmed up.

Snowpack

pit at about 2700': SD= 130cm
CT22 Q1.5 @65cm Looks like it went on a layer of flattened buried surface hoar
CT23 Q3 @120cm released on layer of facet above a prominent MF crust near the ground
ECTX After pounding on it it failed at the 120cm layer and the ground facets simultaneously.
Hand pits showed moderate shears at the new/older snow interface
