Route & General Observations

Shooting cracks high on Tincan ridge are an indication that the
surface snow is unstable. Moderate to strong winds a few days
earlier blew the new low density snow into 2-12″ thick wind
slab. Most of the wind slab was small, soft, and manageable,
breaking right under skis or boards. Higher on the ridgetops,
however, thicker wind slabs exist that could easily catch and
carry a person.
