Observation: Turnagain

Route & General Observations

Skinned from parking lot through open water and super saturated snow to the normal up track. Snow very wet, heavy and punchy. Eventually worked our way to treeline where snow was heavy mashed potatos but it was snowing. Overall very wet conditions and snowpack.

Other than huge pinwheels and snow balls at treeline did not see any signs of instability.

Weather

Rain at the pass. Mixed rain and snow at approx 2000 ft. Very wet snow at treeline.

Snow surface

Wet heavy snow at all elevations. Saturated below 2000 ft.and puddling in tracks from there down.

Snowpack

Same as above. New snow is bonding well to old snow. Could be pretty solid if it froze up without any other input (wind loading, etc.).
