Skied a lap in Tincan Trees before going higher and skiing Hippie Bowl. Light wind in the morning, saw some snow transport happening up on ridgelines, but by noon it was calm. South aspects seemed to be the most wind loaded, with some wind loading on W and SW aspects as well. Lightly snowing on and off all day, but only amounted to 1-2 inches of actual accumulation. South aspects above 2200′ showed signs of a significant wind slab cycle that I would guess happened yesterday. I saw 10+ crowns that were half filled back in. Most were 20-50′ wide and 1-2′ deep, but on top of the ridge a couple crowns had widths of ~100′. It looked like wind slabs were breaking within the new snow or at the new/old snow interface.
I dug a pit on one of the rollers where it was slightly wind loaded at the bottom of Hippie Bowl. West aspect, around 2700′. There was a facet/crust combo from around Thanksgiving but it was unreactive for me today. I got an ECTN17 53cm down at a density change. Generally the snowpack felt pretty right side up.
