Route & General Observations

Standard uptrack to top of Tincan Common Bowl. Great powder skiing in Common Bowl, excellent grass skiing below treeline, and exquisite VI2 climbing on the lower approach.

Weather & Snow Characteristics

Weather

Snowing S-1 at beginning of tour (~11:30). Temps in the mid 20's, moderate wind from the NE. Visibility was poor during entire tour, <1/4 mile visibility at summit. Snowing ~S1 at end of tour (15:30).

Snow surface

Surface was <1" precip particles on near surface grassets below treeline, ~3" new snow at treeline. ~6" of light new snow above treeline.

Snowpack

See attached snowpit from Tincan Common Uptrack. HS=115 CM @ 3050', W Aspect. ECTX.

Lower Common Ridge near standard uptrack - 1.5' deep snowpack (~5" light powder on top of 2" melt freeze crust on top of consolidated snow).

At treeline ~3" new snow on top of ~4" of melt-freeze crust.
