Light to heavy snowfall throughout the day with obscured cloud cover. Winds were mostly calm with occasional light gusts near treeline. Snow line was down to sea level throughout the day.

Location: Tincan
Toured up to treeline on Tincan to check out how much new snow there is and get a sense of how it is bonding to the old snow surface. Overall the new snow is light and not bonding well with the crust surfaces on steep southern faces and softer surfaces on other aspects. Luckily the new snow was not cohesive enough to act like a slab so we were just getting loose snow avalanches (sluffs) on steeper terrain features.

6-7" of new snow at 1000' on Tincan with slightly more at upper elevations. Johnson Pass trailhead had closer to 4-5". We heard from other skiers today that heavy snowfall picked up again in the later afternoon and added some extra inches to the totals we observed.
Snowpack
On steeper southern aspects there was a supportable icy curst underneath the new snow. On other aspects and flatter slopes there was a mix of soft snow and old wind affected snow underneath the new snow. In general the new snow was not bonding well to the old surface on any steep aspects we observed and large dry loose avalanches (sluffs) would be likely on larger terrain features. We did not dig any formal snowpits and did not observe any obvious red flags.

Same story later in the day at the top of treeline. Occasionally we could see CFR but for the most part it was socked in and snowy all day.
