Pleasantly surprised by conditions on Tincan today. Snowing down to around 1000′ this morning, and it doesn’t seem like the rain made it much higher overnight. Very touchy fresh wind slabs above treeline- we got two small slabs to release with ski cuts and saw multiple shooting cracks as we made our way up the ridgeline. We did not see any signs of avalanches failing on the October facets, but we also did not dig any pits. Questions concerning those facets at the ground remain unanswered for now.

Fresh wind slabs 6-10" thick releasing with ski cuts. These were failing on slopes that were being actively loaded by strong winds.

Raining steadily up to around 1000', with snow above. Precip tapered off around 11:00 this morning, with gradually clearing skies through the day and some periods of sun in the afternoon. Sustained winds estimated around 15-20 mph in the alpine, tapering down later in the afternoon.
Surprisingly dry at mid and upper elevations. Moist up to around 1500'. Variable in the alpine, with obvious wind transport continuing through the day.
We did not dig pits, but we did get some direct feedback while skiing and skinning. Multiple shooting cracks while skinning, and two small wind slabs with ski cuts.
