Observation: Turnagain

Nice warm sunny day, fresh light powder from yesterday.
-Just above freezing in early – late afternoon. Warming effects on southerly faces observed. Moist surface snow, roller balls, point releases off cornices and rocks, small cornices breaking, etc.
-thin breakable sun crust on some surfaces.
-on aspects protected from the sun, light and dry powder, approx 20cm above 2000′
-glide cracks everywhere
-didn’t observe red flags during the tour
-observed surface hoar on shaded aspects
-early season snow pack makes for a tricky ascent and descent below 1400-ish’
