Tour to 2200′ on Tincan.
APU Weather Station Maintenance.
Did a couple of laps through trees
Considerable amounts of new snow, somewhat heavy.

Avalanche Details

Triggered a small storm slab on very steep small convexity within the trees, only progated ~10ft and and ran a similiar distance, about 6in deep. Didn't investigate bed surface :\

Weather

Snow line just below ~1000'
Snowing S1/S2 throughout day
Temps hovering around freezing.
Light winds w/ moderate gusts in exposed areas, coming mostly from the East, but channelling through terrain.
Overcast/obscured skies.

Snow surface

Warm, somewhat dense, new snow accumulating throughout the day. About 20cm new snow observed around 1pm.
Sitting on variety of surfaces, NSF on nonsolar aspects, Suncrusts on solar aspects. Didn't look close enough to observe if surface hoar was present.
New snow wasn't cohesive enough for meaningful handpit results.
Shovel tap tests gave different results depending on location. Described below:
Near the base of Hamburger hill: Shovel tap test shearing about 15cm down on new snow/NSF interface requiring moderate/hard force.
Low slope angle on a SW aspect @2100': failing on facets below weak Suncrust with moderate force.
Steeper slope angle on SW aspect (test pit location): New snow shearing with easy force on stout suncrust

Snowpack

Test pit @2100': HS=175cm. SW aspect. 20* angle
20cm of new snow on 2cm Suncrust. Small (rounding?) facets below down to Thin crust paired with well developed facets 40cm down. MLK JR day layer found 50cm down.
CT15 SC 40cm down on facet/crust combo
ECTN19 40cm down.
MLK layer was unreactive.
