Route & General Observations

Followed standard track up Tincan to approx 2350 ft, just above treeline and 300 ft east of beaded string station site. Skied out via NW aspect below First Drop.

Weather

At 1100 fog layer filled Portage Valley. Tincan Parking lot (PL) just above fog. Sunny above and calm. Temp at 1400 at 2350ft = 24F. By 1600 fog had begun to engulf Tincan PL .

Snow surface

1-3 inches new light density snow over settled powder.

Snowpack

22 inch snowpack in meadow below Tincan PL. 1-3 inches low density new snow over slightly firmer base. Boot penetration 12 in. Pretty much the same at 2350 ft. From a distance base of Common Bowl to ridge top showed signs of wind transport and possible wind slab development.
