Route & General Observations

Tin Can backside via center ridge lot, met up with main uptrack. Dug pit at 2200ft at treeline on a W-NW aspect. Skied one lap down the trees to the creek near the standard uptrack, climbed back up to ~2000ft to ski back to the center ridge lot.

Weather

28F starting from the car at 11am, obscured skies and very light northerly winds, snowing less than 1cm per hour, brief period of improvement to overcast and calm winds with no precip from ~1pm to 2pm, after 3pm light northerly winds increased and snow ~1-2cm per hour, large heavy and wet flakes. Warming throughout the day, 33F at the car when departing.

Snow surface

Decomposing dry snow, after 3pm becoming moist new snow. No wind effect on our route.

Snowpack

At 2200ft, height of snow ranged from 210cm to 265cm, with average height ~230cm

Snow pit at 2200ft, layer of concern - interface at 75cm down showed reaction in CT, though no reaction in ECT. PST did not show much energy at all and movement was barely perceptible.
