Route & General Observations

This remotely triggered avalanche slid when a skier was
approaching the upper section of the Tenderfoot Ridgeline in the
Summit Lake area. A shooting crack shot out 75ft in front of him
and released this avalanche while he was watching. Notice the
multiple bed surfaces which upper layers of snow slid on, because
these are separate weak layers in the snow that could fail.
Remotely triggering an avalanche indicates a snowpack with low
strength and high energy, a bad combination for recreationists.
