Route & General Observations

Standard uptrack. Skin track was filled in by wind-deposited snow above 2600′.

Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Lightly snowing, no wind at pit level but windy on ridge above.

Snow surface

Settled powder at surface at 2530' and good creamy snow for skiing below this elevation. Very wind affected snow just above this elevation.

Snowpack

Snow pit:
2530' W aspect, 26 degree slope
H=115cm
ECTN18

The top layer of 6" of snow failed easily, however it was not strongly bonded to itself nor the layer below it so the failure didn't propagate. The results from our pit suggested the snowpack was right side up.
