elevation terrain
Shooting Cracks-none observed
Collapsing/whoompfing-yes-widespread mainly at and below treeline, avg radius
~30 feet.
Weather
Clear skies turned to mostly cloudy by early afternoon. -3F at parking lot @
10am, teens in upper elevations, 14F at parking lot @3pm. No precip. Winds calm.
Surface Conditions
Surface hoar observed in lower elevations up to 2mm with some very large grains
in creek bottoms (see photo # 2)
Observed pockets of surface hoar above treeline-scattered distribution and
smaller grain size (1mm).
Overall coverage is still thin. We are dealing with a characteristically
Continental snowpack. The snowpack is generally thin, there have been extended periods of dry & cold weather, and instabilities are lingering well past
loading/precipitation events.
