Route & General Observations

AAS Level One Course

Toured up the snow machine up track today in beautiful weather. Clear skies, calm winds, and a little bit of warmth in the sun. Reports of recent avalanches from Tincan Common, but no avalanches,
whoomphing, or shooting cracks on the sunny side.

16″ of new snow in the parking lot with light wind transportation below tree line. More wind transport above tree line. Some surface hoar formation in protected areas between 1000-1500 ft. New snow was bonded fairly well to old melt freeze surface.

Roller balls and small loose snow slides on test slopes, but no propagation in storm snow or small wind loaded slopes at tree line. Snow pit tests CTN PC, ECTN with 95cm total depth at 1500 ft.

Skiing conditions were generally good with some contact with the old melt freeze surface. Up track is still fairly thin but not much bushwhacking.
