Route & General Observations

Skied up the snowmachine up track on sunnyside with the thought of skiing some lower angle terrain in Main Bowl.

Signs of instability:

Collapsing and Avalanche: Several small collapses while breaking trail on the way up as we approached the ridge top. One very large collapse on the ridge top which set off a small remote slab avalanche (see photo) on the Main Bowl side of the ridge. Looked like it was about 24″ deep and failed on top of the ice crust. We decided to ski back down the skin track.

FORECASTER NOTE:
This slope is around 2,300′ in elevation and Northwest facing.
