Photo: This group investigated the crown of the recent glide avalanche on the lower west slope of Sunburst.
Note: Even after these cracks release into avalanches the area can still be dangerous if more snow releases above or to the side of the avalanche. It takes great care and knowledge to find a safe area to look at these close up.

Overcast skies, some holes to allow light.
Clouds creeping over Seattle ridge but most of non-motorized side ridges visible, no flagging observed
Light wind and snow around 1400, picked up as we skied out
Temp at 1800ft around -4 C

Snow surface

Slightly wind affected, no crust

Snowpack

From multiple pits, discovered good structure, good strength, and no propagation propensity.
