Location: Sunburst
Similar location to the avalanche that occured on Sunday
3/22/09. We dug a crown profile and confirmed the failure layer
was the facets on top of the January “Hurricane” rain crust, just
like we have been seeing in most of our pits over the past couple
weeks. This spot probably avalanched because of its steeper
slope angle, but we also measured slope angles on this crown face
as low as 30 degrees.
