No surprises here…great start to the season! I dug another pit
higher up at 3000 feet on a SW aspect and found about 6 inches of
melt-freeze grains at the bottom of the snowpack next to the
ground (no failures on this layer). This snowpit produced
similar results (Q3 shears in the top 2.5 feet).
