Route & General Observations

Toured up to Taylor Pass and then to the weather station. Skied down the ridge part way then the lower angle slopes N of Taylor Pass.

Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Valley fog in the morning then mostly sunny with calm winds.

Snow surface

1-3 cm crust up to 2000, thicker at lower elevations. Soft snow above that with some wind affected surfaces mixed in.

Snowpack

We dug pits at 2800 on a W aspect and 3700 on a SW aspect. The 1/10 and 1/18 buried surface hoar layers were in all of our pits. We only had propagation in our extended column test on the 1/10 BSH in 1 pit out of 4. We did a propagation saw test on the facets over the Thanksgiving crust and got propagation along the column with a fairly long cut length (50/145 end).
