Many glide avalanches, over 100 easily. All aspects and elevations below ~3,000 widespread from Girdwood through Turnagain Pass.
Mostly sunny with high cloud moving in headed on the next storm late in the day.
Light southerly winds.
Temps near 30F along ridgetline.
Moist settled powder above 2,500'.
Wet snow or crusty snow below 2,500' (somewhat punchy).
Above 3,000' around 2.5-3' of settled snow.
2,000' - 3,000' around 1-2' of wet/crusty snow.
Below 2,000' zero to 1' of wet/crusty snow.
Snowpack was saturated on the bottom due to a warm ground. This is contributing to the several glide avalanches seen.
Mid-pack there is an older layer of 2-3mm facets from late September.
Pit results:
ECTP 30+, CT 19 failure in the facets (1-2" thick layer 45 cm deep).
