Recent small glide on the SW face of Tincan, under Hippy Bowl. The picture isn't great, but you can see the white(ish) color of the bed surface.
Overcast with some sun shining through. Light Easterly winds. Temps around 50F at parking lot and 35F along the ridge. Warm day!
The cloud cover last night limited the re-freeze and 1-2" of soft wet/moist snow was seen on all aspects, including North.
Southerlies all elevations: The snowpack had a marginal re-freeze from the cloud cover last night. The top 2-3" was soft, but underneath was frozen enough that the snow was supportable with skis most of day. By late afternoon, pack was becoming punchy and unsupportable to the boot, but skis still stayed on top. Bottom of pack in thin zones harbor wet facets - see video.
Northerlies above 2,000': The clouds last night moistened the top 4" - but under this was cold dry faceted snow.
Only recent avalanche seen today - small glide on Tincan's Southwest face - elevation ~2,500'
More glide cracks are opening on Seattle Ridge near the up-track
A look up at Sunburst's SW face with an old skier triggered slab (bed surface dark and melting out) with debris.
Sunburst Weather Station is running strong. Notice the scoured zones along the ridgeline melting out
A look at Pastoral
A look at Kickstep
Obvious sign of wet snow instability - boot punching through easily... time to head to a new aspect or stay away from avalanche terrain
Quick pit on North aspect at 3,600'. 4" moist snow on surface.
