Snowpack

"Interesting day" at Summit Lake .
Not much new avalanche activity
Saw a Glide Crack on the highway just N of the pass. Aprox. 50cm moist snow over grass on the cutbank.
Then found perfectly preserved christmas tree surface hoar from last week imbedded under the MF crust. (Not wide spread)
Saw localized cracks--created by the two people in front of me--and decided to dig nearby.
First pit results were inconsistent, potentially due to a depth difference across the pit wall. Kept doing tests, as they were easy to cut with just a saw. Worked my way into an area that was 65cm along the entire wall. Still got varying resutls but on two distince layers.
(See Pit profile)
Skiing down was yet another adventure. Flying stem christies seemed to be the turn of choice
