The avalanche seen in the Summit area, near the Hope Y, is likely called Moose Mt or MP 52 slide path.
Avalanche: Turnagain
Location: Summit Lake, Turnagain and Portage
We had an interesting day today we skied in summit and found conditions to deep and heavy and did not trust the moderate angled stuff. One run and to the car. On the way back to Anchorage we saw a fairly large natural slide happen on the last slope, to the I believe east of us, just before the Hope cut off. Going through Turnagain it started to clear and we saw fractures on almost everything, including one that included most of the Sunburst cornice lines. Then when getting close to Placer river we watched another slide happen on the first peak to the east of the Portage road off a south aspect, again decent size. From there we saw a lot of fresh pile ups in the slide paths along the arm including one off of Current down the main slide path with a fresh pile up – of I’m not sure how many feet that was currently covering the railroad tracks. So yes it was an interesting day today.

Observer Comments
The snow in the Summit area was wet and heavy and from what I saw. It was that way all the way back to Anchorage.
