Three natural avalanches occurred around 4pm off Summit Mountain near Mile Post 45 on the Seward Highway. One of these sent debris onto the highway. Debris on the road was around 4-6′ deep stretching around 100′.

With poor visibility and obscured skies yesterday, the start zones for these three natural avalanches were not seen and there are still many unknowns.
There had been 3-4" of new snow during the day (.2-.3" of SWE), moderate south winds (5-10mph gusting in the teens) at the MP 45 ridgetop weather station and temperature in the low 20'sF.
